I wouldn't really know about famous alcoholic drinks, but I do know that our very own San Miguel beer is known world wide and considered one of the best beers. For nightlife, places to go to are Makati (Greenbelt area, Rockwell, The Fort), Libis and Tomas Morato.

The first answerer was right regarding beaches, the more famous ones can be found outside of Manila. The nearest one would be Puerto Galera which is near Batangas. Then there's Boracay, the beaches at Palawan where great scuba diving and whale watching can be done, Camiguin also has great beaches. There's Aman Pulo, Dakak among others.

Private swimming pools are plenty outside of Manila as well, in nearby Laguna. These pools also tend to be hot spring fed so the waters are warm and good for relaxing. If you have relatives in the Philippines, just ask them where they usually go for a summer outing to the pool and they'll be sure to take you to a good one. Aside from Laguna, Bulacan also has some resorts and private pools to offer.

There are just too many places to mention here, so maybe you can check out this website for more info and to get more ideas for your trip – http://www.wowphilippines.com.ph/.

if you want beautiful beaches you cant find one in manila though manila is filled with malls and spas…cebu, palawan or davao are the best places here…cebu and davao is a great urbanized area with lots of beautiful places…if you want nature and ultimately clean place go to palawan…

famous malls: sm(manila and cebu has one and as well as other places), mall of asia(manila)

famous beaches: boracay, club noah and honda bay(in palawan)

    hope you'll enjoy…^^

    Drinks?
    Buko juice – non alcoholic
San Mig Light – alcoholic (i don't drink. i was just told)
Beaches – Puerto Galera or Palawan. or visit Bohol.
Malls – Mall of Asia or Ayala malls(a lot of bargain stuff)

Weather is, as always, hot & humid here during this time of the year. During the afternoon you can expect a 360 on the weather. Rain, thunder, etc.

Learn a couple of tagalog words. It'll help a lot. Even just the basics such as Magandang Araw (good day), Maraming salamat (Thank you).

Don't bring too much money on you. When you ride a cab, make sure you get the plate number first, in case you forget something.

Filipinos are very nice & hospitable. They'll assist you even if you don't ask.

    Have a nice trip!:)

I'll give you some good advice from a fellow traveller. Don't be expecting the world as the Philippines is a country which is bloody hard to compare to any others. Its rather unique and suffice to say lots of different things happen there. The pines does have everything you mentioned above and I gurantee you that you will have a good time. But also don't be naive and think that you will have a trouble free trip. Manila is a hectic at times and sometimes unforgiving kinda place for travellers who don't excercise common sense.

My advice is to go there with an open mind as I know you will see and experience things you wouldn't normally experience. Having said that I've been there many times and keep going back to the place. I'm sure you'll be the same.
