What are some random places I can go to for vacation that won't be expensive?

I want a cheap house not too far away from LA that has a pool or a spa for a weekend trip. Doesn't have to be anywhere special, just some place where it will be cheap BECAUSE its not a usual vacation spot. Any ideas?
