Video cameras in pool area?

We live in a mobile home park. The park recently put cameras in the pool and spa area. My problem is that the video screens are visible through the park office window 24/7. This means than anyone can have access to the video without knowledge of the park or the residents. The pool is private, (buildings/bushes block all visual access) but with the moniters visible to the public, anyone can be watching with out our knowledge.



Is there a law or code I can cite to get them to turn off the moniters (or even close the blinds to the office) during off hours?

My problem is with the moniters and their placement, NOT the cameras themselves. Thankyou.

    Gather a few other people who feel the same way as you and talk to the people who are in charge of the pool and the cameras. Tell them your concerns and ask as many questions as you need to. Usually, if enough people are concerned about it, they will provide a temporary or permanent solution to the problem. But even if it is just you, they will at least consider your concern and look for a solution.

    What exactly are you doing in the pool area that you think someone off the street is going to want to sit and watch you do?

    I guess you could ask them to close the blinds, but they probably do not have to.

    I don’t think there is much you can do, except to voice your complaint with management and see if they are willing to turn the monitors off at night. (or some other method of blocking from view.

    Although the area you describe is for the "private use" of the tenants.. it is not your (or anyone Else’s) private-use area. This means that video monitoring, visibility from outside areas (like many other complexes) video display, or other means, is not a violation of your personal privacy.

    Most outdoor pool areas in apartment or mobile home complexes are easily viewed by passers-by. .

    It wouldn’t surprise me if they are videotaping the pool area as well, for the protection of the park in case of accidents etc..

    Note, this my opinion based on experience and not legal advice.

    As stated before, there are NO laws that forbid the placement of cameras in the common areas. You can also not dictate where the monitors are placed.
