Enjoying your hot tub and spa even in the winter

Author: Rhess

Having a hot tub or spa means you can take advantage of and enjoy its warmth even in the winter. Even in the cold and snow, you can take advantage of the soothing jets and heated water. Wintertime can be one of the most enjoyable times to use your hot tub, as long as you take proper care of it.

One of the greatest dangers of running your spa or hot tub year round is the damage that could occur if the plumbing freezes. Most spas have a built in preventative measure and will have a switch on the main control panel thermostat. If you plan to use the spa in the winter, make certain the setting is programmed to keep the water warm all day. You can program it to heat up before you plan to jump in but keep it warm enough to prevent freezing the rest of the time.

If your spa thermostat isn't equipped with a timer switch you will have to pick a temperature at which to set it so it doesn't freeze and so it maintains a steady temperature. You also want to keep the water circulating on a schedule to prevent freezing. Depending on the temperature of the climate in which you life, you might have to run the pumps more frequently to prevent freeze.

The colder it is outside, the longer it will take your hot tub to heat up and keep it at the same level. The spa will also need to run longer during the winter months to maintain the same temp you keep it in the summer months. The best way to keep a cap on your heating bills would be by investing in an insulating cover for the hot tub. You can also add a floating thermal blanket under the cover to further reduce heating bills.

When you aren't going to be using the spa, make certain you keep it covered. The spa cover isn't designed to bear the weight of snow. It's best to keep up with snowfall as it happens.

Make certain you have drained and cleaned your spa before the winter months hit - and then refilled it before winter's snows begin flying. If you drain and clean it before winter, you will not need to do it during the season.

While it's thrilling to slip into the warm embrace of the waters of your hot tub, make sure you've prepared for getting out o fit and have towels at the ready. Why not consider a heated towel rack or warming unit to make getting out of the tub as enjoyable as having been in it.

Advantages of Owning a Portable Spa

Author: Lesley Lyon

Portable spa means that it is a hot tub which is movable wherever necessary. Instead of going outside for spa leisure, we can have a portable spa at their homes. This helps reduce the time of travel and we can relax or rejuvenate our body and mind in a portable spa privately in our homes. After using a portable spa, it can be dismantled easily and stored separately which depends upon the make. Portable hot tubs offer a peaceful and pester free spa experience without disturbing the individual's privacy.

The portable spa works with a thermostatically controlled heater, self filtration system and turbo wave massage action which facilitate and give a comfort feeling to the body and mind like an olden days hot tub. In case of shifting to a new home, it is very convenient to shift the portable hot tub also. The necessary items for the portable spa are a space, water and electricity. It can be fitted in a place inside the home, shed, garage, terrace, backyard etc. The main advantage of portable hot tub is the steam, helps in relaxing and gives relief from stress which gives a better overall health.

The infrared portable spa sends the heat rays into the skin upto one to two inches, where the therapeutic effect helps in healing by different ways. It helps in healing arthritis, sports injuries, strains, sprains etc. The heat ray which passes into the body is beneficial for human bodies as it helps in blood circulation also. Through increase in blood circulation it will give good nutrients to the skin, which will in turn help in healthy tone, texture and mild cleansing of the skin. Infrared Spa helps in reduction of weight also, as the body sweats out fat and loses weight just like diet or exercise. Regular use of it helps to burn calories. Portable spa helps to save energy and they come in different styles and specifications.

Usage of portable spa is very easy and the steps are as follows :

Fill water in the portable tub.

Warm up the tub with an electric heater and it takes normally an hour.

The hot tub is ready for bathing.

Take a fresh shower before entering into the tub.

Maintaining a portable tubs in past was very tough and hectic, but nowadays it is very easy, simple and time consumed is also minimum. It is very much essential to keep the tub clean and sanitized and to use fresh water which is important for the body health condition. Before going in for a purchase of portable spa take into account the maintenance options or else go in for a company which offers regular maintenance schedule, which will save time and provide less work and the individual can relax and enjoy his time peacefully.

What Is A Home Spa?

Author: Song Meng Tan

Traditionally, a Spa was a natural mineral spring people would bathe in for positive health benefits. Over time, the idea evolved to the point where you can now have a massage spa experience in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Between 1970 and 1997 is the time when home spa's made the most progress in their designs. They grew from a makeshift redwood hot tub full of leaks and bacteria to a masterfully engineered miniature pool with jets and streamlined for comfort. Pumps were installed by the manufacturers for water circulation and filtration and sanitization was introduced as an important factor for healthy spas.

A spa is an experience where a person improves their health through water. While soaking in warm water has proven to relax muscles and release tension, air and water jets serve to massage and stimulate circulation. Having a massage spa leaves you refreshed, invigorated, revitalized and relaxed and the increase in blood circulation offers positive healing to your whole body.

The problem with visiting health spas in commercial venues is the high cost. If you want to introduce massage spa's as part of your lifestyle, it can be very expensive to make regular visits. With a home massage spa, you have one amount to pay, then it is yours forever to use whenever you please! Whether you prefer to sink into the relaxing depths alone after a hard day at work or would like to invite a few friends over for a spa party, you will always love your home massage spa as if it were a best friend.

Many people who have an injury or health issue have chosen to install a home massage spa. Whether your problem is internal or external, using spa massage will have positive benefits for you. Anything that causes you to relax and reduce stress levels frees up more of your bodies energy to focus on healing your problem. For anything muscular, spa jets are the perfect personal massager! You can position yourself weightlessly and effortlessly in almost any position you can imagine to direct the jets to massage your problem areas. This improves recovery times for athletes and enhances long-term repair of damaged tissue.

In today's fast-paced environment, everyone's minds are racing through thousands of different thoughts and stresses every moment of the day. Dedicating time to clearing your mind of worries and allowing yourself to achieve deep healing relaxation can be difficult, but not when you have a massage spa! All your problems, stress and thoughts will melt away when you relax in your home spa and being in your own environment will mean you can really let your hair down and enjoy the experience to the max.

A less expensive alternative that offers just as many health benefits is installing a portable home spa. This is a fantastic modern day invention that can turn your regular bath tub into a luxury spa massage for you and the whole family. Another benefit to this option is that you can easily take it with you when you move or use it in multiple bathrooms in your home.

The idea of having a home spa is to simulate the experience of a natural mineral spring or spa resort. The healing benefits have long since been known for massage and warm water soaking, and using the method regularly with a home spa will increase longevity and improve your overall health mentally, physically and emotionally

The Importance of a Spa Cover

Author: Britney Simpson

Having a hot tub is indeed a great convenience today but they are still a bit costly. But then they are not as expensive as they used to be. In the days gone by, it was only the top cream of society who could afford a hot tub. Nowadays, even the middle class families can afford one or they can frequent the sauna shops in their local neighborhood. But if you buy a hot tub or spa it will not only cost you thousands of dollars but you need to spend to maintain it as well. A hot tub cover or spa cover is comparatively very cheap in order to be able to maintain you hot tub or spa and keep it free from dirt and leaves and bugs especially if it is out of doors.

If you have gone through all the trouble of buying a hot tub and have set you mind on spending time and energy to maintain it, then it would seem very silly if you ignore the need to have a hot tub cover so as to protect your hot tub and keep it running for a longer period of time. The spa cover is just a plain cover that tightly and completely covers your hot tub or spa without leaving any gaps so that no debris can get inside and spoil the filters and pumps of your hot tub. There are quite a few options available to you when you shop for one of the hot tub covers.

You can go by the traditional method and buy a factory made spa cover that is manufactured to fit any hot tub or spa the size of your spa. In most cases this should suffice as the factory made hot tub cover is normally well built and long lasting. This should be good enough if your hot tub is indoors or inside an enclosed porch where there are less chances of debris getting inside and damaging the heating system of your hit tub along with its filters and jets.

But in cases where your spa is placed out of doors, it is certainly well worth it to spend some more and get a custom hot tub cover made to cover your hot tub perfectly. Outside the hot tub or spa will be subjected to sun, wind and rain that can all contribute to damaging your tub and there are plenty of little things that are just waiting to get inside. It could be leaves, twigs, debris, bugs, frogs and other small animals that could get inside. Also, a custom spa cover normally fits even more tightly so that your little children can be safe from it even if they might be left unattended even for a short while. Leaves, pine cones and insects can clog the drain and turn the water into a dirty brown so make sure you use a spa cover and enjoy your soak in clear and clean water.

Cedar and redwood hot tubs are naturally appealing to the senses. They are attractive with their beautiful grains of wood, clothed in rich colors, drawing attention and admiration. They are also beautifully scented and exude a pleasant aroma when hot and wet, so as you soak you can enjoy an aromatherapy benefit as well. People who are looking for natural and attractive additions to their gardens or homes are choosing cedar and redwood hot tubs over the artificial acrylic and fiberglass varieties.

Cedar and redwood are ideal for the manufacture of hot tubs as they are very durable and resistant to weather. These woods are naturally resistant to rot, decay and insect infestations and this means that a cedar or redwood hot tub is a long term investment that will keep its good looks well into the future.

These woods also expand when they are wet, yet do not shrink back to their original size when dry. This characteristic makes cedar and redwood excellent hot tub materials because it ensures a completely waterproof tub when filled.

Interestingly, cedar and redwood hot tubs are still often far less expensive than their acrylic or fiberglass counterparts. So if you want natural materials in and around your home that enhance your health and environment with natural beauty and aromas, at a comparatively affordable price, a cedar or redwood hot tub would fit the bill beautifully.

Cedar and redwood hot tubs are not just natural, safe and healthy they are also modern. They come with all the modern equipment common to spas including up to date filtration systems, pumps and controls. In case you're worried, they are also easy to keep clean. The manufacturer will provide all the maintenance information you need to take care of your cedar or redwood hot tub.

In a world full of plastic, your cedar or redwood hot tub can be a place to relax and reconnect with nature. The healing benefits of a spa are enhanced in a natural cedar or redwood hot tub. There are so many positive benefits of choosing a redwood or cedar hot tub, it would be well worth your while to take the time to look into the products and styles available to you.

How to Care for the Water in Your Hot Tub

Author: Allison Ryan

The water in your hot tub is similar to that of a swimming pool and is unlike the water with which you fill your bathtub. For one thing you do need to use a hose to fill the hot tub and you do not let it empty out once you use it. This means that once you finish bathing, you simply leave it in the tub and reuse it for bathing at another time. You have to use a sanitizer to keep the water clean, just as you do with a pool. However, there is less water in the hot tub, so you don't need to use as much sanitizer.

One of the sanitizers you use for the water in the hot tub is chlorine, but you also need to use other chemicals. Bromine is one of these chemicals and is not as harsh on the skin or does it have the string chemical smell of chlorine. You do not have to pour in this chemical because it comes in the form of tablets that contain a combination of chlorine and sodium bromide. Most of these spa, hot tub (http://www.mybath.biz/besthottub.html), and Jacuzzi sanitizing systems make use of a floating brominator that helps the tablet to dissolve slowly in the water.

Another method you can use for sanitizing the water in the hot tub is an ozonator. This requires a special piece of equipment that has to be installed inside the motor, which will produce the ozone into the water to destroy the bacteria and other contaminants that will develop in the water from the use of cologne and other materials that you and your guests use in the water. However, ozone will not do everything that you need for cleaning the water and you will still need to use bromide tablets on occasion. All the newer models of spas and hot tubs do have this ozonator included in them.

It is important to test the water in spas, hot tubs (http://www.mybath.biz/servlet/the-Hot-Tubs/Categories), and Jacuzzi tubs on a regular basis to make sure it is clean. This means testing the level of the chemicals to make sure you do know how much chemicals to add. When you add chemicals from time to time, this is known as balancing the water. The pH level of the water is one of the things you should test to measure the amount of acidity. The best level to look for is a neutral pH level of 7. Anything lower than this is too acidic and will have a corrosive effect on the plumbing.

There are test strips you can purchase for this purpose, either from your spa dealer or from retailers online. Each of these strips contains little plastic squares and each one tests a different chemical in the water of the hot tub. When you find that one of the chemicals is out of balance by using this test strip, then you only have to add a small amount to the water and then retest until the strip shows that you have the proper balance.

You should drain the water out of your hot tub every three or four months and give it a good cleaning. The filter needs to be cleaned on a monthly basis and replaced once a year. When the filter is not cleaned, the water will be dirty and adding chemicals will not sanitize it as much as is needed.
