When I do the self test on my pool water, the ph level is crucialy low but my chlorine is very high. I have added soda ash a few times this week and still my ph level does not budge, and my chlorine level stays high. The water is clear as anything and there is no algae build up anywhere. There is a slippery feel to the water, i know that sounds silly. The water burns the eyes and has a chemically tast to it as well. I don’t know what to do anymore. I am taking a sample of it to a local pool/spa place to get tested. But if anyone has any sugesstions or has had the same problem before I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do? Thank you.
I have two German Shepherds that are absolutely NUTS about water. Water out of a hose, pool water, the ocean, the bath tub… anything involving water basically. I wanted to know if there were any toys for dogs you can connect your hose to or water toys. I was in a store the other day and saw this 4 foot inflatable ball (obviously NOT for dogs, it is intended for kids on hot days) that you connect a hose to, and water just squirts out everywhere I guess, and so came this idea. I was wondering if anyone knows of ways for dogs to exercise and play in the hose. I’ve tried the hose myself, and that just gets old. There has to be something out there, tall, fast, sprinkler, maybe, I dont know? Water fun for dogs. HELP ![]()

Scubabob u made some interesting points, pool water isn’t heated bout 54 degrees rite now and we have a automatic pool sweep.water does pass thru heater even if not on.Calicum hardness fine bur don’t remember what it is.Sand change like in dc?filter has cartriges, also water changed every year.Cell does reverse polarity,2900 ppm salt.bet cell is the problem can’t believe pvc lines doing this.ty so much 4 your interest
Gosh I am bad at this, failed to mention we live in the desert, blowing sand and grass clippings from the gardners.Water temp changes with the weather, summer time can get 226 degrees with water twmp at mid 90′s.We never use spa so heater isn’t an issue acts as a water feature flowing into pool.We have a pebble sheen pool.I wonder if bottom manifold inside filter housing is cracked? When I take a sample from cell plates, carefully, then let them dry, they are the same as FLAKES not dusty in spa when dry.I don’t no of a person who doesn’t change there pool water every 2 years. Thanks
I have never used bromine to treat pool water. I have a new vinyl spa that requires its’ use. Over the past 24 hours, the water has turned slightly yellow. Bromine level was low, and Ph slightly high, but I just adjusted and is now fine. Any advice on how to correct?
Both pool and spa are filled nicely with the correct amount of water. My problem occurs when the system is turned off, at which time the spa water drains down and the pool water level increases. I think perhaps some of the valve switches are incorrectly set allowing the spa water to be fed back into the pool, but I’m not sure. How should the valves be set? Or is there some other reason? I’ll appreciate any answer. Thanks.
i have a swimming poo and a spa. i drained the spa to acid wash it but instead of filling it back up i filled it up with the water from the pool forgetting that the pool water has salt because i have an aq-rite salt generator in the pool and i treat the water on the spa with chlorine tabs. Could there be a problem if i have water with salt in the spa and my actual chlorinator uses chlorine tabs????
I have a spa connected to a pool, but the spa seems to be draining to pool water level everytime the pumpo shuts down. The water from the spa seems to be going back to the pool!
I have tried taking water out of the spa so the water level could be below the pool, but then the pool starter draining to the spa, until they both reached the same level!
There are no leaks, and i have tried closing and opening all the valves that control the pool, i have tried filling the spa with water, but then the spa drains to the pool until they reach the same water level, even with the pump completely shut down.
I don’t know what to do, and it wasn’t like this before… the water from the spa used to be much higher than the pool water level.
Anyone knows how to fix this? I don’t wanna spend any money right now, so if anyone that know about pools has any ideas, i would appreciate it!
the only valves that control my pool, are: spa drain, main drain, skimmer, floor system, spa spillover!
*here’s also a valve that control a jet on the side of the pool!
*sry about the misspellings!
The swimming pool we are using is an open one and has a spa there too. The pool water is naturally not warm. My husband gets into the hot water spa as soon as he is done with swimming which is just next to the pool. I have heard about health hazards of taking a cold water bath just after a workout which warms the body. But what about the reverse ie what if a body comes in contact with warm water from cold water in say 5 seconds?
I don't want to adversely effect my pool water by using a wrong chemical. I just want to clean the outside of the glass to rid it of the white smokey haze. I believe the cause is splash from the waterfall over the glass from my spa to my pool. The white haze will not rub off. It currently covers only portions of the glass, but I believe it will eventually cover all the glass, dulling the look of the spa, especially at night when I turn on the spa light. I need ideas to erase or remove the offending build up on the glass.
