One item that often times doesn't get enough consideration when designing and selecting a complete swimming pool system is the pool pump. The fact is, that the pool pump will get the biggest workout of any one unit in the total system, so it is important that the proper pump be purchased for the pool.
The swimming pool pump will work in conjunction with the pool filter so depending on the size of the pool and its total volume of water it is important that the pump be the right sized and power to keep the pool clean. While it is important to get a pump that is big enough, having a pump that is much too large for the system can result in excess power usage, which can add up over time.
Another item for consideration when selecting a pool pump is if the pool is heated and if so how the pool is heated. Many times people can underestimate the amount of force that is required to move a large body of water efficiently. If the pump is under powered for instance, it may not move the heated water at a sufficient rate to get the pool to a desired temperature.
A solar heated pool will have its own considerations with regards to the pool pump for any one of a number of reasons. For instance, many times the actual solar water heating units will be up on the roof of either a house, garage or a pool house. It takes quite a bit of force to move water to high places and solar water heating units must work at maximum efficiency to be effective. This means that if you are planning on having a solar heated pool then an experts opinion in just what you will need in the way of a water pump for your pool should be sought out.
