    Cleaning spa tub jets?
How do you clean the spa tub jets? Ours are getting moldy, mildewy or something and I can’t get it cleaned out. Any suggestions?
I just need to clean the jets and this is not a spa with water left in it all the time. This is our bathtub with jets. The jets (where the water sprays from) is what is moldy. Any help cleaning that would be very helpful! Thanks.

I have had that problem with ours also – I tried several things, but what works best for me is Lysol Mildew Remover with bleach. You spray it on and let it sit. It is very hard to clean the jets, because they are small and I haven’t found anything that gets in there effectively to scrub with. But I have found that repeated applications of Lysol will get rid of the mold with no scrubbing. I would recommend spraying them about once a week to prevent any further mildew buildup. It doesn’t smell that great, but if you spray it weekly you won’t need to use a whole lot.

Will mighty putty work to seal leak on PVC connection on Spa when jets are turned on?

  4. ♠Steph Dubya♠ says:

You can go to the discount spa on Dyer street and ask them not to turn on the jets! They will just let you soak if or they have buckets.. But that one cleans Ive seen them do it. Or if that’s the one you are having a problem with I can’t be much of a help I only go there…

Attention El Pasoans: Is there a salon/spa here that does NOT use jets for pedicures?
I had one bad experience with those jets at a not-so-clean spa, and I will only go to ones that use a water bowl to soak your feet in. Is there any place like that in El Paso? I can’t seem to locate one. Thank you for your help.

On How Clean Is Your House, Kim and Aggie used a few dishwasher tablets in a jet bath, along with very hot water. It was amazing how much gunk came up from the pipes.

They claim it will. I’d give it a try before I replaced any piping.

Spa jets: keep air on or off?
Here’s my dilemma: When the air is at the “on” position for all jets, my spa tends to develop foam after a few days. Enough that I have to throw in some “anti foam” type product. Discovered that when the air is at the “off” position on all jets, I get zero foaming. Is it better to leave the air flow off, anyway?

My water is perfectly balanced, in case you’re wondering.

Bathers contribute body oils to the water, as a result of the warm water. These body oils can react with the natural alkalinity of the water and form “soaps.” Add aeration and you get foamy spa water. You can use a spa formula Anti-Foam Product to help break the foam. An Enzyme Treatment can be added periodically, in order to digest or decompose the body oils and prevent the formation of these “soaps.” Soft water will support more foaming. Keeping the calcium hardness level in the 150-200 PPM, can help suppress foaming. It is important to completely eliminate all foam, for some period of time. This is necessary, in order to assure proper sanitation, because the ecology of the foam is different from that of the water.
