When you go for a massage with a RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) is a tip expected? The massages are for pain in my back and I have a prescription from my family doctor.
I have my massages expensed through work however they do not cover the tip - only the amount of the massage. Is there an expectation from RMT's to provide a tip for the massage service?
I rationalize it that I do not tip my chiropractor, or any other health professionals however when I pay for my massages there is a tip option via Debit or Credit Card.
I believe the difference is that I go to a "Day Spa" type of facility where they offer other aesthetic and beauty services and maybe the tip is more expected for those treatments as the employees would be paid less for their time.
Could anyone help me out here who has experience with this?
Thanks!
