Is A Portable Hot Tub The Right Choice For You?

Author: Jake Plumer

As the name suggests, the portable hot tub is a hot tub that can easily be transported. This type of tub can be broken down into three categories, and these are the hard side tubs, the fiberglass tubs that are self contained, and the blow up tubs. The hard side tub uses a sturdy side along with the liner which can be used to hold the water. The hard sides of this type of tub will generally come in parts, and this allows you to set up it fairly easily. In addition to this, it also allows the tub to be placed in an area such as the basement of a home. To get the portable tub set up properly, you would need to put the sides in position, and them connect the liner. Once you've done this, you are ready to begin using it.

The fiberglass tub is a bit larger than a standard bath tub, but it is smaller than the other tubs that I've mentioned so far. The good thing about the fiberglass tub is that it can easily be carried between most doors. It is truly portable, and as the name implies, it is made from fiberglass. The fiberglass tub is idea for those who want a tub inside their homes, but have doors which are too small to fit standard hot tubs. While this type of tub may be used on regular floods, it is first important to look up the building codes in your area, so that you can learn the weight amount that the floor can support. In most cases, this weight will be measured for each square foot.

The good thing about these tubs is that they can often be transported with ease. The biggest problem with standard tubs is that they are far too heavy to carry around, and carrying them can actually be expensive. The tubs which are portable will often be small enough that they could easily be transported on a pick up truck. The portability of hot tubs is a result of the new technology which has allowed them to be used in virtually any location. As long as you have some type of heating system, whether it is electric or gas powered, and a source of water, there is no place where these tubs can't be used. Advances in tub design have given endless possibilities for the consumer, and they are no longer as expensive as they used to be.

If you're going camping, you can now bring the tub along with you. As little as 12 years ago, this would not have been easily achievable. If you're holding a party, you can also easily set up your tub in a place where your guests can use it. However, even with these tubs, it is important for owners to pay attention to sanitization. There are many forms of bacteria that can thrive in such as wet and warm area, and owners will want to make sure the water and tub are clean at all times. Some of the agents that can be used to clean the water include chlorine, mineral sanitizers, or bromine. The energy use of the tub is another thing you will want to pay attention to.

If I remember these are those small portable hot tubs that plug into a standard outlet?

If you have not experience maintaining a hot tub it is best to go to your local pool/hot tub supplier and have them teach you basic maintenance.

It is very important to have your chemicals maintained properly you can get some nasty infections from improperly maintained spa water.

    I own a softub
    http://www.softub.com/modelsfeatures/softub-300
Mine is a firm sided tub.
    It cost 3,300.00
I like it but it adds 40.00 a month to my electric bill.
The chemicals cost about 10.00 a month

The one you want to get is similar to mine but your is a blowup. and will not have the same insulating value making it run more in cold weather.
I guess for 500.00 you can’t really go wrong.
But think about the added electric bill
It takes one hour for every 1 degree in temp rise to get ti up to the temperature you want it at. To get it to temp will take about 50 hours of it running constantly.
I keep mine at 102 degrees.
I’ve had mine 8 years price has gone up since then.

Portable Hot Tub or Pool Heater???
I am not sure if I should get a portable hot tub or a pool heater. Which is less??

  7. PropReno says:

Looking at some on-line, there’s a big price jump from a 4 person hot tub to a 6 person hot tub.
A new portable 4 person hot tub can run $1000 and up.
Whereas a new portable 6 person hot tub can run $3000 and up.
Probably due to the bigger equipment necessary to run it.
You might want to check out a reconditioned one.
They are a fraction of the price and come with full warranties.

what type of hot tub should I buy for relaxation?
We want one with plenty of jets, enough size to fit at least 6 adults, and one mainly used for relaxation. I do not want a portable hot tub. I want a nice one. Features like radio/cd player does not matter to us. We probably won’t use it anyway. Thanks!
