Never think for one second, that any pool contractor, at this time of year, will call you back .Not gonna happen.
It’s not that they don’t want your business, it’s that they already have more than they can shake a stick at, the pressure is on to complete what we’ve committed to and the season for building is only so long. Off season, if you want a pool for spring try calling towards the end of the build season ( snow flies and ground freezes,we quit). There are only a few other reason’s they aren’t comming back or returning your call. You live too far away from their home base to make it worthwhile My old Boss got calls from 50 miles away. You think he’s gonna call back? Nope, just gave him the willies and made him pray harder for the end of the season. Maybe they know the geology of the area you are in, it might be a high water table and a real pain in the butt to build. Nobody wants to slop around in a pit for a week, hoping that there’s no cave in or a new shell gets blown out of the ground setting you back a week.
All I can say is keep trying, maybe you’ll luck out and get one as he’s getting outta bed ( better try at 5 am) or when he gets home ( after 10 pm). Try luring them with cognac ( one guy did this to my boss, it worked), he got him over for a yard check at 11 pm on a Saturday night.. :)

is a pool contractors proposal binding?
I had a pool contractor try to up his cost by $4,500 when everything was already agreed upon in his proposal. After I accepted his proposal, he tried to charge me for work that was already included in his proposal. Is there any recourse for me?

Do you want an under ground swimming pool or an underground contractor? Underground means no contract and you can’t trust that. You would be throwing your money away and the work will not be guaranteed. Remember that you get what you pay for.
If you talk to other contractors or your neighbors and spread the word that you are looking, I’m pretty sure one will slither out from under a rock to swindle you out of your money.

Is there cheap underground swimming pool contractors in Miami, Florida? Most are above $21,000: only 12 x 24?

Ineed help with a big big math problem i need a lot of help Geometry?
AAA Pool Contractors has contracts to build four swimming pools this summer.
Pool 1 is a rectangle as follows: The width is 14 feet; the length is (14′ – 8′)^2

Pool2 – is a rectangle as follows: The premiter is 160′. The width is x; the length is (2x – 10)

Pool3- is half circle with a radius of 12′.

Pool4- is a lap poolas follows: The pool has six 4′ lanes running the length of the pool. he area pool is 2,400 sq. ft.

1.) What is the perimeter of Pool 1?
2.) What is the area of pool 2 ?
3.) State the ratio pf the area pf pool 1 tp the area of pool 2 in fraction form reduced to lowest terms.
4.) what is the area of Pool 3?
5.)What are the length and width of Pool 4?
6.) Pool 4 os a uniform depth of 5′. How many cubic feet are in the pool?
7.) Pool 3 has a 6′ high fence around it. The fence is 8 feet from the edge of the pool all along the curved portion only. How many rolls pf fences each containing 100 lineal feet must be purchaced to fence the pool? ( Dont worry about the gate )

I totally disagree with windancerhil. I’ve worked 15 years as a pool service man and builder. The original salt water systems, he may be referring to ( 20 years ago) indeed, were complex, and prone to breakdowns. They also were very high priced affairs that also took care of monitoring ALL of your water chemistry. The more toys, the more things break.
In the last 5 years or so, this has all changed. The units out there are more reliable, more efficient and more home owner friendly. Servicing can now be done by the homeowners themselves as most manufaturer’s units have built in diagnostics.
There are two Manufactureres of salt systems I have experience with. Chloromatic and Aqua rite. Of the two I prefer the aqua rite, it has an easier to read display, seems to have the least manufacturing problems, easier to service and is more user friendly. Here they are. http://www.goldlinecontrols.com/AquaRite.aspx
Since most of my customers went salt, my workload at each home went down drastically, their operating costs went down and there was less pool down time.
Repairs to date: None of the aqua Rites and 2 circuit boards, 1 cell on the Chloramatics. About 50 of the Chloramatics installed and around 170 of the aqua rites. That’s correct, no failures of the aqua rites as yet and it’s been 5 years since we began installing. Says it all.

Edit: Unless you are Julia Child and have an exceptional set of taste buds, contrary to what has been posted in here, you will NOT taste the salt or float higher. Most of the units run at between 2500 and 3500 ppm in salinity. As a measue, the human tear is over 300 times more saline.
Much of any negative feelings towards salt, are usually voiced by dealers that make a good income selling pool chemicals. They don’t like salt pools because it effectively cuts their sales revenue.

    1.) Perimeter of Pool 1
    2(14)+2(36)=100

    2.) Area of Pool 2
    x+x+2x-10+2x-10=160
    6x=180
    x=30
    (30) x (2(30) – 10) = 1500′ ft.^2

    3.)504/1500 = 126/375

    4.)Pi(12)^2/2
    (Pi144)/2

    5.) length=24
    2400/24 = 100 = width

    6.) lwh = 5(6)(100) = 30,000 cu. ft.

    7.) Pi40/2 = 62 so you need only 1.

  8. klc says:

What can someone tell me about an inground saltwater swimming pool?
We are about to build this pool and none of the pool contractors in the central louisiana area know anything about saltwater systems. We heard they are much cleaner and cheaper than chlorine.

How do I get a swimming pool contractor to call me back? I want a pool!?
I have called 25 contractors in Northern Indiana in the last year, and only one has called me back, and I never heard from him again. How do I get a pool installed if I can’t get a contractor to even return my call?
We called during the winter, we called during the spring, we have called about 25 local guys, but they just don’t seem interested. One person came out and we selected all the options we wanted, and then he went away and we never heard from him again. Any suggestions? We’ve visited the stores, the “people” who we need to talk to are usually out working. I’ve tried online construction referral services, but all they want to do is sell me concrete or pavers.
