My pool is insured but my homeowners insurance won't pay, why?

I have a pool that came with a house I purchased. After some maintenance I discovered the pool was losing about an inch of water a day and that the spa was draining (through the wall) into the pool as well. I filed a claim, they sent out a plumping guy, not a pool guy who said it doesn't look like a pipe leak. He advised a dye test but my homeowners (Fidelity) is denying the claim based a plumber eyeballing the whole thing. WHAT CAN I DO?

telling them you need a pool man to look at the pool. and if they say no. then get one in to give you a cost to fix your pool. and then send the cost to your insured comany to see with wrong with your pool . this way you no and yiou know how much it going to cost you will know wish way to go.

Get a second opinion. Add some food coloring to the water and see where it goes.

You need a pool contractor to check it out and advise on what needs to be done….They specialize in pools and know what the proper fix would be …….make sure hes a licensed pool contractor ….then contact your insurance agent with the proper estimate from a licensed pool contractor….tell him to fix it ..or see you in court………..

Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover this type of problem; it’s basically a wear and tear issue. They would cover if you had storm damage of some type. Or if lightening struck the pump and ruined it.

Now if you have a "warranty" that you purchased when you bought your home, then that’s a different story and a different insurance company.

I’m afraid this one is going to come out of your pocket and not the insurance company’s. You can certainly appeal the denial but I don’t think it’s going to do much good because that usually isn’t covered.
