My mom wont let me get a cell phone and I’m 13 and I feel that I need one. I need some good reasons to get one

I go out during the day starting at 1 PM and get home around 11 PM with my friends to party (we're middle schoolers, we are drug/smoke/alcohol free at the parties, nothing bad happens!), go to each others house, spa, tan, go shopping, swim, go to the suana, etc. I dont have a cell phone, and I think I should have one because SOMETHING could happen. All 4 of the girls I hang out with have them and I just think "what if they didnt? My mom wouldnt be able to contact me!" I'm thankful they have them .. but like my parents and sister (shes 17 but shes on her boyfriends plan) have one each and I think I'll need one! PLEASE GIVE ME REASONS TO GET ONE THAT MY PARENTS WILL BELIEVE! The cell phone I want is free, I just have activation and billing fees. I NEED some advice on how to tell her I SERIOUSLY need one since I'm out with my friends practically all day and I need GOOD reasons! PLEASE! I'll answer questions in details if you have any questions.
DUDE! We HAVE money!! I spend atleast and more at the mall in one store. I HAVE MY OWN CREDIT CARD!! Lordy..



and PLUS! I get a good sleep. like, 8 hours! I'm in bed by 12, I wake up at around 11-12! jEEZE

    tell her if i have a cell phone you can reach me any time and i can report my situation to you everytime so you dont have to be worry about me! good reason for a mom! right?!

    i did just fine without a cell fone til i was 16. u dont NEED one. it would just be more convienient

    Just say that its essential for your parents to keep in touch with you to make sure where you are and if you’re ok… and you’ll need one if theres ever an emergency.

    Play the "so I can get ahold of YOU mom and dad in an emergency" card. If they think its for them they may be more apt to get it for you.

    You do not need one at age 13. In fact, most people do not need them.

    Tell her that what if you’re stranded and need to contact someone. At least have her give you one for emergencies.

    Tell her you will be tempted to do bad things if you she doesnt have a way to contact you. Tell her u will play with the boys. Like a "rainbow" party. That should do it. Haha good luck

    Who’s paying for this phone? You or them? If you have money, and a steady source of it, then tell them you’ll pay for it. Ultimately, it your parents decision. Don’t beg..that makes it worse. Until they decide to agree to it, just continue being thankful your friends have cell phones.

    What are you all doing out till 11 pm anyway? That’s a bit late, don’t you think? If you were home before dark, maybe you wouldn’t feel the "need" to have a cell phone.

    Get a pre-pay. You can just buy it at the store, no contract, no parent’s signature required. It’s more expensive that way, but hey, whatta ya gonna do?

    if you need a cell phone for emergencies, get the little kid ones that have a button to call mom dad and 911, other than that, you don’t need one until you can pay for it yourself.

    Sorry, I grew up without one and did fine. When you have a job and can afford the service on your own, then go ahead and get one. There are plenty of phones out there…. Use your friend’s phone if you need to. Sounds like you just want to be in with the in crowd. Next thing, you’ll want a car.

    kid, the only reason you would NEED a cell phone is for emergencies. If you make your own money and can pay for it on your own, then use that. I started working at 12 and had a full time gig by 13. Learn to work for your fun. Life is not a hand out. You parents can also get you a cell phone and set it only to be able to call emergency #’s or your family members. You’ve done without a cell phone this long. I’m sure you’ll be fine without one.

    You don’t need a phone.. what you need are parents that have rules! You’re 13 and you’re out until 11pm.. I don’t think so… so, something happens.. so what.. what do you think kids did 10+ years ago when something happened? They went to a house and knocked on a door… or a store.. or a friend went and got help… it’s just an excuse to have a toy because everybody else has one. Do you really.. REALLY feel you need one? Why? Are your parents gone from home for a long time and have no idea where you are? You’re not haning around with a bad crowd by the info you put up here and it sounds like some of your friends have cell phones.. so.. really.. do you need one or do you just want one? Kids today are way too spoiled…. cell phones.. computers… video games… gameboys… electronic this and that… good lord… kids don’t even know how to play these days… you hang around malls… spa’s.. tanning shops… what happened to going to the park…. playing sports… going on hikes.. fishing… sorry.. I just don’t see the need… I think it’s unnecessary… and your parents should have you home and in bed by 9pm at your age.

    Even though I think celly’s are over-rated, you should tell her that, your a teenager, and your starting to hang out with people more, maybe even date, and you want to make sure that if you get into a "bad situation" you want to be able to call her and tell her whats going on, or if you need to be picked up from school, or stay late somewhere, but tell her that you won’t abuse your privledges with it. That she can set the rules with the phone, and the boundries with it, and if you don’t obey what she says, she can take it away from you…You also have to understand, that with getting a cell phone, you need to get a plan, and with a plan, they have to check your credit, maybe your mom doesn’t have good credit, or maybe she doesn’t want anyone checking it, you can only have so many buisnesses check your credit before it starts to give you a bad score. Talk to her some more, ask her what her reasoning is for not letting you get one, and then see if you 2 can come to an agreement. Maybe tell her you’ll do extra chores or something. But a good phone to get to, is a pay-as-you-go phone, no plan, which means no credit check. Maybe have her an you look at a bunch together. If she has a cell phone plan, they can always add you onto her plan. Good luck hunn.

    I also read what that other guy said, and granted you are 13, if something happens you want your mom to know. But you can also get a summer job, your going to have to sooner or later. If you get a job now, it’ll show your folks your responsible to pay for your own stuff. But don’t get a cell b/c your friends have one, that so incredibly lame and childish, use one of theirs and give the number to your parents. I honestly think cell phones are annoying, expecially ppl using them. But anyways, don’t complain to your parents if they don’t get you one, they do everything for you, this is just one thing, I bet they have their reasonings. Maybe they don’t have the money or something, or are trying to teach you if you want something, you have to earn it.

    at first my mom wouldnt let me get one but she finally agreed. tell her that someone could kidanap u and u’d have NO way of getting a hold of her but if ur mom is worried about the price u could always look into a prepaid phone like t-mobile. u buy a card and it gives u mins but after u buy 250$ in cards u get the gold rewards plan and thats is when u buy a 100$ phone card u get 1000 mins and they have rele cool phones

    I feel ur pain not having a phone, first u can tell them u’ll pay for it by getting part time job, second u can tell them about the gps phones which have a tracking device if anything happens to u and they can’t get a hold of u they can always track ur location which will make them less worried and give them a piece of mind, plus u can call them if ur in trouble and desperately need to call them. or u could go with the option of buying a prepaid phone they have the same phone just as the contract phone except u use a phone card or prepaid by carrier.
