My Bestway Lay-Z-Spa heater seems to have packed in. Can the heater element be replaced ?

The pump works fine with regards to filtering the water and the massage (bubble) function. However, the problem is that the display panel shows that the water temperature is heating up but the water is staying cold, which makes me think the heater element has failed. The service line told me that they do not have replacement parts for the pump & the only alternatives open to me are to either buy a new pump (approx £200) or a new Lay-Z-Spa (around £350) ! !
Does anyone have any knowledge of this problem ? Thanks.

Hi there, I am currently having problems with my Lay-z-spa heater too, although my problem seems to be that the thermostat is broken as mine starts to heat up but the water never gets up to the desired temperature as it seems to overheat, cuts out and displays – - – - on the panel. Check to see if yours is heating at all by putting your hand in the spa by the water outlet valve and check if you can feel any temperature difference where the water comes direct from the heater. Apparantly the thermostat is the biggest problem with these. I have been speaking to someone who has managed to do repairs on these before and I am working on mine at the moment having it stripped down in the kitchen. The replacement thermostat is about £5 so a cheap repair.
I was told that if it is definitely the heater element that is gone, then the cheapest way to use the spa is to purchase a separate pool heater which costs about £40 and use your current lay-z-spa control unit as the filter and for blowing bubbles. If my repair fails this is the route I will be taking.
Will report back on my success or failure at the repair as and when I get the results.
