Leaking Hot Tub??!!?

I purchased a used hot tub not long ago and filled it up to test it, everything seemed to be working then i blew a fuse in the power box, no bid deal. Its been about a week and i replaced the fuse, but when i took off the cover and was about to turn it on I discovered the hot tub was only about half full. Im assuming I must have a leak somewhere, how can I go about finding it?? and What are the most common places/causes?

  1. Dr. Hot Tub Wilmington NC says:

The most common places for hot tub leaks are:
    1. The heater and tailpiece gaskets.
    2. The seal in the wet end of the pump.
    3. ozonator line.
    4. failed clamps at the main manifolds or bad/old glue that allows the hose to a jet leak.
    5. The jets.
    6. The bottom drains.
    7. Around the Light.

Most common cause is bad chemistry. Second would be age. Third quality of product.

try plugging off the returns, one or two at a time. common leak there. when one is plugged off and the water level stays the same that’s probably it

Hopefully The leak is in one of the pipes or pipe connectors. Where the motor is hooked into the pipes you can get a leak when the "O" rings are worn or not aligned properly. Check all your connections first.

If you are sure they are all fine and do not leak, then just look for the leak to trace it to it’s source.

One way to find a slow drip leak is to lay tissue paper down underneath various suspected possible leak spots. The tissue will take on a wrinkled look (if not still wet) from any drips it absorbs.
