How to clean jacuzzi tub on a septic system?
We just bought a new house and we love it but the jacuzzi tub jets (I am assuming) send gunk out in the water when used. I thought about bleach but bleach is not safe for septic systems. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Typically, the in-room “jetted tubs” (can’t call them Jacuzzi tubs unless they are actually made by Jacuzzi Co.). are just oversized bathtubs with jets.

They won’t have the water already in them, as they’re not like the hot tubs you find by pools at a lot of hotels (where the water is treated with chlorine, etc.).

So — there are some hotels in the Dallas area that have rooms with jetted tubs:

    Sterling Hotel

    Lockheart Gables B&B

    Radisson (Fort Worth/Fossil Creek)

    Best Western NE

    MD Resort B&B

Scottish Inn & Suites (Haltom City)

Be sure, before you book, that the room description says “jetted tub”.

    Good luck, hope that helps!

How do you clean jacuzzi jets in your tub?
I just bought my first home and loved the fact that it has a jacuzzi tub. The problem is that the jets are gross!! I’ve used lime away and bleach and they look a lot cleaner. My concern is that there’s still stuff back in there that might come out if I try to use it! (gross!!)

    Help!!

A lot will depend on whether or not you can find a Jacuzzi that is the same size as the existing tub. Large tubs generally require some type of support framing that may need to be modified. Jacuzzis also require electrical power and access panels for the pump motor and wiring. You’ll have to have a qualified electrician run a dedicated GFCI circuit for the new tub. Dedicated, means the tub will be the only thing on that breaker; GFCI is a safety that shuts down the power if the circuit shorts out due to water or any other type of problem, so you don’t get electrocuted. You also need to consider whether or not the water supply lines and existing drains will work with the new tub.

Next you have to consider the walls around the existing tub. Drywall or plaster will be pretty easy to patch up after switching the tubs. Tile will take much more effort, and matching tile may not be available; so for it to look good you might end up re-tiling the entire area.

To have this done professionally, plan on anywhere from $1000 to $3000, plus the cost of the new tub.

had the same situation. what i did was fill the tub with water and diluted a whole bottle of zonrox (or any liquid disinfectant) and i ran the jacuzzi for 30 minutes and all the grime and dirt just spurted out.

I want to switch out a garden tub to a jacuzzi tub. How much would the installation cost?
I just need to know in general how much in labor the installation would cost to switch a garden tub to a jacuzzi tub. I want the jets. :) I realize this depends on where I live too. I live in Delaware.
I don’t think I’d have to reinforce the floors, because there is already a soaking tub there. This would be the same type of tub I’d get, just one with jets.

How can i check check if the jacuzzi tub is broken?
I have a Aqualux jacuzzi tub that is about 3 years old. I rarely use it and today when I tried to start it, I don’t hear any sounds. The tub has been filled enough where the filter/suction box is covered, but this shouldn’t intrude from turning on the water pump. Any ideas on what I should do?
