Is it normal for my spa heater breaker to keep tripping?

About every 3 weeks since winter started by heater breaker will trip. I have a gas heater. I set my spa at 104 degrees and our nights are usually around 40 degrees. The manual just says to reset the breaker if it trips but its a bummer to walk out to the spa and find its not hot (as you stand there in your swim trunks in the 40 degree weather).
I just gave the manual a proper read. Apparently this isn't a breaker is a "high limit" cut out switch. I guess this is to prevent it from going over the 104 degrees? In anycase why does it trip occasionlly?

If your high limit is tripping then your thermostat is either not controlling the water temperature correctly or it is set to high. The manufacturer recommendation is for spa water to never be above the 104 degree setting.

Try back the thermostat down to 102 and see if that makes a difference.

    Hope this helps.

No, this is not normal. It is rather a worn out breaker or there is a problem with your heater. Either way, I would contact a licensed and insured professional.

To keep tripping? I’d say no. Sounds like you have an energy surge problem somewhere in the electrical lines. Have a qualified electrician come out and check your wiring and to make sure the spa has enough of your breaker box(doesn’t need more electricity). If that turns out to be ok, I’d have a spa professional come out and check your spa for problems.

ever once in a while is ok,but when its tripping this much, you are overloading the circuit, try turning some other stuff off that is on the same circuit,or is it on a dedicated circuit?if that’s the case then you need to get the breaker checked,it could be going bad, they do you know

Spas are generally set at a temperature of 102 degrees and no higher. Any degree hotter would cause problems for the owner and the people who watch these items, government regulators, dont want it set any higher. You do not have any power surges, or shortages, you just need to back your thermostat down to 102 degrees and everything will be fine.
