Infinity-edge Pools -- Endless Beauty

Author: Gunter Walderon

You've created the ultimate backyard escape for yourself with awe-inspiring landscaping, plush grass and an outdoor area. Only one item is not there -- a swimming pool. If you want to enhance your Zen-like existence with a swimming pool, consider an infinity-edge pool. They are as pleasing to the eye as they are utilitarian, and you won't tire of the effect of looking out of your window and watching the water fall over into the horizon. Infinity-edge pools are the trendiest swimming pools on the market today, and afford much more than just a place to cool down. They are a sensation, an experience unlike any other swimming experience you have had.

Infinity-edge swimming pools are installed in the ground, and give the illusion of water escaping from the pool's boundary and expanding to the horizon. But they really aren't. Infinity edge pools are definitely a design highlight. They have a diminutive basin around their circumference to accept the water as it plunges over the side. From there, it's pumped through a second filtration system, and returns to the pool for a constant cycle. And because they are commonly constructed on cliffs or hills, the effect of the water descending into infinity is quite amazing to the viewer.

Three reasons you have to have an infinity-edge pool:

*They're hot! Absolutely! They most definitely are. And you feel like you are extra cool for owning one.
*You'll never wonder what to do with the cliff on your property. This is what the infinity-edge pool was made to handle.
*Your friends will envy you, while they take a dip.

Unparalleled grace and luxury are brought to your home and property with an infinity-edge pool. Your home deserves a cool off, unwind and de-stress zone. You will enjoy the serenity it brings to your backyard and your friends will be jealous when they look at it. But, be cautious who you trust such an intricate project to. Infinity-edge pools require a skilled professional installation. Even when architects and landscape architects plan to have an infinity-edge pool installed, they look for the very top installers. The installation of an infinity-edge pool must meet client's exact requirements. Make certain that the pool designer that you select has experience with infinity-edge pools, and can answer any questions or concerns you have before beginning the work.

I still don’t quite understand infinity pools. How does the illusion work?
I see them sometimes on TV and those pools are on top of a cliff or mountain..and it looks dangerous because I feel like if you get near the end…you’ll fall off and die lol but I don’t know.

I think they’re cool! The water goes right up to the edge of the pool, and there is no walkway beyond it. Plus they are built so that when you are swimming in them, your eyes don’t see any objects beyond the end of the pool, like another building or people walking around.

This depends on what you mean by the term infinity pool. One is a brand name small pool, that you swim against a current produced at one end. The other is also an infinity pool (vanishing edge, negative edge), that gives the illusion of the pool wall, dropping off into space. here’s an example http://phoenix.about.com/library/blpooltypes11.htm
The water flows over the edge into a collection resevoir, where it is drawn back into the filtration circuit again.
