Vinyl Pool Finish: Getting To Know What Makes An Option For In Ground Pool Finish

Author: Chris Turley

Building in ground pools is a very intricate process. It takes time and a careful use of materials. They look great because the construction materials and the different systems used to make them are embedded on the ground. Despite the fact that they are longer to make, these kinds of pools can work wonders in your backyard. They can create an instant recreational environment for your homes. On top of that, you can have a new location for your home parties. Your outdoor barbeque grill get together can be more fun the whole family, especially for the kids.

The beauty of your pool can be attributed to various factors. One is the shape. The more unique the shape is the more interesting it can be. Second are the different elements that you put together around it. This contributes in completing the theme that you want for your backyard pool to have. Third is the pool finish. This gives the varying hues in your pool and an additional protection to your pool.

There are various finishes that you can use and one of them is vinyl. This kind of finish gives your pool a smooth surface unlike pebble pool. They are quite expensive than plasters but they are low in maintenance. They are also easier to winterize. Vinyl has its own patterns and designs. Therefore, using them will no longer require you of painting your pools in order to give it the color you are looking for.

Vinyl is also flexible. Remember that our world is not as stagnant as you think it is. Most of us experience tremors, shaking and various ground movements. By choosing this as your finish, you do not have to worry about leaks on your pools or even easy cracking because it is elastic.

Another great feature for using this finish is its ability to resist stains. Although it is not a hundred percent that it will be stain free but the mere fact that it has a smooth surface, stains can be easily removed. Of course, it will all depend on how prompt you are in taking care of the problem. Algae and other spores may also have difficulty in proliferating on their surfaces. This is because they are non-porous and it is naturally smooth.

Another feature of vinyl pools that make them great for an outdoor pool is that they are not labor intensive. Yes, it is a fact that in ground pools do require weeks to complete. However, since this kind of in ground can come in kits, after digging the whole and the supporting structures, you can attach the material easily. It simply looks like putting a cover on your bed and tucking them at the right places to ensure that they are wrinkle-free.

Although you can have these benefits, this does not eliminate the need for maintenance. Just like other pool finishes (plaster and pebble pool), maintenance falls on the basic pool care guidelines. It is still all about the ph of the water, maintaining the chemistry and ensuring that all of the pool components work effectively.

Can my in ground pool be empty in the winter?
I live in Cleveland, Ohio and have a vinyl lined in ground pool. It is 18 X 36 and anywhere from 3 feet deep to 10-12 feet in the deep end. Can we drain the pool and have it empty during the winter time? I have heard that pool walls may collapse if it was empty. Is this true? We plan on emptying and starting fresh in the next season, just curious if we could empty it now.
As far as algae issues, we have used Yellow Out twice, and dumped pound after pound of super shock in to the pool. The PH level was correct as well.

What excersize can be got in an above ground pool?
The summer is coming and will be time to open the pool again. We have an above ground pool, it’s the biggest apove ground pool in size I’ve seen, but not very deep. What kind of aqua excerisizes can I get in it? Like swimming laps I guess is the only thing?

Any exercises you CAN do in a pool will be more effective because of the resistance of the water. Even things like sitting on the bottom (if it’s shallow enough, of course!) and doing slow leg lifts will be harder, and therefore more effective. Running in place would be the same. Holding on to the edge, floating tummy down, and doing some serious straight-leg kicks would do a lot, too!

Yes that is true if you empty the pool the walls could collapse. It is the same as an above ground pool. It ruins the lining of the pool and as a result of taking the water out you may have to get a whole new pool. The thing to do for winter is just to put a cover over the pool. Then when you go to open your pool again shock it . Go to a pool supply store they should have the shock treatment there. Just ask one of the employees and they will tell you how much and how to bring your pool back to life.

How to rid of algae in a above ground swimming pool??
I have just bought a home with a 40″ above ground pool. The pool had not been maintained or covered in almost 2 years. The algae, plant life and bug life seems to be a task that never ends. I have worked for three days straight empting the water out, scanning the algae, leaves and bugs. However the project seems to only be slightly less work.
I have not used any chemicals yet, I just dont know where to start. ( If at all possible i would rather use enviromentally safe products.) I have never owned a pool, and my family says it will just be a money pit. Suggestions and helpful hints would be wonderous!
Also if any one has tips on how to rid of the white ring around the pool liner after the water was drained, it would be awesome.

Order some sand ( a half or full Truck load)depending on the size of your concrete slab, level it out to make sure you have a soft smooth surface .Then install your pool you shouldn’t have any problems.

What is the best in ground pool heater to buy?
I have a 9000 gallon in ground pool and am looking for a pool heater, would like to know what the best pool heater is for our pool?

Drop me a line at robandliz1992@yahoo.com and we’ll get you up and running as inexpensively as possible. If possible please include the gallon size of the pool (if you know it), the filtration system, chlorination system, or pictures of the above. What is the depth of the pool?

If you haven’t drained the pool completely then STOP NOW!!!!! Never drain a pool completely or you will run the risk of having to replace the liner as they rarely stretch back into shape after a couple years.

Can an above ground pool be installed onto concrete?
We have concrete pad in our backyard that takes up alot of space and would like to put a pool in that area. I’m hoping that an above ground pool can be placed directly onto the concrete.
