If a Craigslist job ad says “No phone calls about this job” is it still okay to call abt the hiring manager?

The job posting says, "Please, no phone calls about this job" but I would prefer to address my cover letter to the person who does the hiring. It's a small spa so there is no information on the internet about who would be hiring-there's no HR department or anything. Would it be okay to call and ask for the name of the person or would that be considered a phone call about the job?

Because the company is so small, follow their instructions. Don’t worry about just sending your cover letter with the salutation, Dear Sirs. The most important thing is the format of your resume and what you say in your cover letter.

It is nice to personalize a cover letter, but in smaller businesses they don’t have the personnel to be taking calls all day about a job opening. They also make hiring decisions on how well you follow instructions. For larger companies (over 100 people), you can ignore the don’t call instructions because sending your cover letter and resume to the right person saves time. Larger companies receive a lot more resumes so they are use to calls and employment inquiries.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your interview.

No, in fact it is sort of stupid to do so. If you do it you have just shown that you can’t follow instructions.
