I know what I want to get my cousin- my mother won’t let me?

My {almost} 13 year old cousin is like my younger sister, and I want to do something somewhat extravagent for her Christmas present. My mother doesn't want me to, and is using the "I already bought for them" excuse. Is there any way I can persuade her to let me go through with my plan?



I'm going to give her a large bag of some sort, and just let her go wild. I'd have sorted shirts, accessories, and cosmetics in different boxes. However in her bag I'd include a Happy Bunny's "Love Bites" book, to remind her guys aren't as great as they seem and an eyeshadow pallette. Probably candy of some sort, too.

It's not like all of the stuff will be brand new. I'll put alot of my old clothes [which she gets, anyway] in one box and shirts that are "rejects" or shirts I bought on my trip in another box. Then the next day {or sometime after} we'll be having a spa day, and she'll get most of the pampering. :P
We'll all be in the same car when going over to her house later that day. It would be mighty hard for her to walk out and not have one of our mothers ask what she had this time.
I'm fifteen. All my mother can really do is take my phone, allowence... I'm trying to keep her happy- I like my phone.

    well i have done that sort of thing and i got the same reaction but what was i took my cousin aside and gave it to her when no one was looking and everything went fine

    the real question here is why is your Mom set against this..
    will this be showing more attention to one cousin than the others?
    Does she usually let you and your cousin exchange stuff already, does your Aunt not want her daughter to have some of the things yet like make up?????
    Does she not believe in "regifting" as in not bought new specific for that person??
    Is your Mom worried they may feel pressured to spend more than they can afford to reciprocate..??
    It sounds like you kind of have a back up plan of just giving her stuff later so just pick the book and candy for the actual present and just give her the rest with out pomp and drama later……
    It is a little to early for your Mom to be Stressing over Christmas so what else is going on…
    Good Luck your cousin is lucky to have an older cousin that cares and remember whether you like it or not you are probably her role model so be a good one.. :)

    I'm not sure how old you are, but it's really not up to your mom what you do for your cousin. I would have loved a gift like that when I was 13. To get to "pick" your gift and have a spa day and feel more grown up and special. If your mom doesn't like it, that really isn't up to her. You do what you want for your cousin. Like I said depending on your age what's the worst your mom is gonna do?

    You should explain to your mom that you really want to get her somehing special. And it's your money and you can do what you want!
