How long should you wait after getting your belly button pierced to go swimming?

My pool is a salt chlorinated swim spa.
Would ocean or lake water effect the piercing?

Ocean would be good for the piercing, but the lake prob. wouldn’t be. I would wash it right after if you go swimming just to be sure.

well you cant have it exposed to sunlight for 2 months, so i would wait about 2 1/2 before swimming, when i got mine, thats what my piercer told me.

  3. John B says:

I would say at least 3 days given that this is the average for a small wound to heal.

  4. Spucker says:

You should wait at least one week. Especially in ocean or lake water, the chance of you getting an infection would greatly increase. One week is just my guess, but I’m sure it’s probably longer just to be 100% sure.

You must wait until it fully heals. You do not want bacteria getting into an "open wound" like a piercing. It should heal up in a week or so.

You need to wait until it is completely healed – 4-6 months.

Chlorine, salt (in your case), other chemicals, and people’s bacteria makes pools awful for unhealed piercings.
Lakes are extremely dirty. Again, awful.
And oceans have too much salt and bacteria in it for your piercing as well.
