how do i run 8/3 wiring from the main panel out to a gfci spa panel then out to a hot tub?

    snagle is leading you astray! first of all 8/3 has four conductors. black and red are "hot". white is "neutral". the bare one is "earth" or "ground". black and white are NOT interchangeable. the main issue is getting the wire routed. you can either put the wire in conduit or buy a "direct burial" cable. the connection between the spa panel and the spa has to be in water tight flexible conduit. this is something a bit beyond the scope of this forum. it is not something you want to get wrong. call a couple of electricians for a quote. you’ll probably find it’s not as expensive as you think.
