How can I keep my hot tub hot?

I have a older hot tub that is heating but with the winter weather it is staying at around 75 degress. Is there a extra heater that can be added to help warm the water. How much insulation should there be. This is a 110v tub. The "tub guy" said the heater was working and all and it did a great job up until winter time. The tub does sit outside.

Your tech isn't doing a good job. If the heat is not getting above 75 it tells me then the temp sensor has failed. We really need to know what equipment it has to tell you what to look for. The brand and model and age. You should not try and put in another heater. Your talking about major expense and over all it wouldn't work. You might need to upgrade to 240v and get a new Balboa VS spa pack that gives you a three year warranty. They come with a new topside control, pack and heater and all the cables and even a light. We replace alot of older equipment that is breaking down or is about to break down even more with these packs. So to close … look at the thermostadt and most likely replace it. If it's electronic then look at the temp sensor. Good luck. Feel free to email directly. Of course as the other guy said insulate as much as you can but not where your pump(s) are since they need air to cool off.

You might try a submersible fish tank heater. You can get one rated for about 150 gallon aquarium and put it in in the winter. It would assist the existing heater in bringing up the temp.
I'd also see if I could get to the insulation and try some of the spray foam insulation. It is more efficient, albeit more expensive.
