Why You Need Metal Hot Tubs

Author: Chetan Kotek

There are a lot of different models of hot tubs out there, but one of the best styles of hot tubs would have to be the metal hot tubs. If you have never heard of a metal hot tub, do not worry. A lot of people have not. However, a lot of people have heard of aluminum hot tubs, which are the same thing. Today we are going to go over why metal hot tubs could be the best choice to go with. We are going to talk about not only how they work, but why they are so simple to keep clean and ready to use!

Aluminum hot tubs are great, because they use no electricity. There are some that you can get nowadays that do indeed use electricity, but most people get the metal hot tubs so that they do not have to worry about that. See, these hot tubs have a heating unit that is submerged under the tub itself. There are usually two different kinds of fuel that you use for these kinds of hot tubs. There is wood and coal. Most people choose to go with wood, but it is up to you. So you can see that these kinds of units work just like a stove. However, they do not burn you, because the shell of the heating unit is made of a highly heat conductive metal. This just warms up the air just outside the heating unit, which in turn warms up the water to perfect temperature.

Now as you can guess, one good thing about the metal hot tubs and spa covers is that they cost a lot less than other electricity using hot tubs. Thus, more people can afford to get them. However, another good thing about it is the fact that aluminum is very easy to clean. Also, since it has a cast aluminum door, there is no rust to worry about, which just so happens to be one of the things people think would be bad when it comes to metal tubs. Maintenance to the heating unit is very easy to do as well. There is usually a tray that slides right out, and you can throw away the ashes. Last, but not least, these tubs are not going to run up your power bill, and you can keep them running all day long. Just simply keep logs on the fire, and you are good to go.

There is nothing to worry about with these metal hot tubs, they pretty much take care of themselves. They are coated in a powder that helps mineral deposits from the water from forming. After all, things like magnesium and calcium minerals can corrode away metal. However, that is something that you will not have to worry about. A metal hot tub is great, and there is nothing extra that you will have to do to protect it. These kinds of hot tubs are best friends to families that can not afford a hot tub of their own. However, if you have kids, you will have to be careful. You will have to watch them while the tub is being heated and not let them in the heating chamber.

Sorry but we need more info…

What brand of hot tub/gazebo is it? There are five major companies that make them, assuming that it was bought with the hot tub. I hate to tell you that a grand is about right for all of them. I would not go back with a wood cedar shake roof and opt for the metal roofs since they do not leak as much. (Notice I said much)

Any suggestions on how to support my hot tub….concrete slab…HOW?
I have a hot tub that i just got and i am wondering the best way to set it. I have a couple idea’s and i’m thinking either supporting my deck and puting the hot tub on top or either laying a concrete slab and setting the hot tub on that. The hot tub filled is roughly 4,000lbs. Any suggestions on what to do and how to do this…especially the concrete slab?

Where I can buy just the top of hot tub gazebo. My wooden gazebo is fine except the top is rotted.?
A repairman said it would cost $800-$1,000 to repaire, but the pieces holden the lattece work are so rotted it might last only 8 months

Roughly how much would it cost to build a 12×12 deck around a hot tub?
I am looking to T-off a landing on an existing staircase I have on the back of the house that goes from the deck (which is 10′ off the ground) to the ground. I want to T-off the landing towards the middle of the backyard, and then build a deck around a hot tub which will be there (hot tub is 7′ x 7′)

Deck should be flush with the top of the hot tub. I am using Pressure treated pine.

It’s probably about 100 sq. feet of decking, plus the railings, stairs, and supports that I will need.

I live in Massachusetts if local prices matter.

I work for a hot tub cover manufacturing company. I’m afraid duct tape would be your only answer. There is really no other way to put it back together. When you can afford one, ask your local spa store to find a “bone pile” cover that will fit your spa. They are much cheaper.
My company is Cedar Mountain Spa Covers, 1-208-772-9176 if you want us to find one in our stock and send you one.
    my email is stefsnyd@hotmail.com
OR, you can send me measurements of your spa, and I could make a cover for your cover, is the styrofoam in good shape still? Because I could just sew the “skins” and send them to you and that is way cheaper still. Let me know.

You will need about 30 2x6x12′s plus your supports whether it’s floating or poles in the ground, it’s up to you. Then any railing. using pressure treated 2.6′s saves money over deckboards. You are probably looking at around 1000.00 for a job done correctly with a nice railing and maybe some benches.

How to repair hot tub cover?
My dog tore the vinyl top of the hot tub cover to shreds. I can’t afford a new one right now. Any ideas on how to fix it up so it will look ok for a year or so? I was thinking about maybe making a design of different colored duct tape, but didn’t know how that would look or hold up in the sun? Help please.
