Useful Tips When Purchasing a Hot Tub

Author: Sean Jordan

If you have a hot tub in your home it is an excellent way to relax and enjoy a little luxury. There are many health benefits to owning a hot tub such as preventing and helping muscle strain and injuries. How can you choose the best hot tub for your situation? This is a large purchase and you want to be as informed as possible before making a decision. The tips in this article will help you identify the best hot tub for your own home.

Most people aren't certain regarding the differences between a Jacuzzi, spa and hot tub, when they go to purchase a unit. Hot tubs are usually made of wood while spas are acrylic or made from fiberglass. Whirlpools aren't specialized forms of hot tubs, as most models of hot tubs and spas can create a circular movement of water. Conversely, Jacuzzi is the name of a spa manufacturer and not a different type of unit. The decision of which is the better option for you is yours alone, however, hot tub is the most used name for these types of units.

You need to consider the location of the hot tub in your home when you are thinking of buying one. Considering that the installation of a hot tub can be fairly difficult, this decision is very important. The location should afford you privacy as well as being easily accessible. Don't put it in an area where leaves will fall into the hot tub from a nearby tree. Ensure that the site you choose will be strong enough to hold a heavy hot tub. You need to make sure your deck is quite sturdy if that is where you are considering putting it. A slab of concrete makes an ideal base for a hot tub.

You need to work out the size of the hot tub you need because they are available in a wide range of sizes. Remember that larger units will cost more and will also take up more space. If you don't want people fighting over the hot tub and expect quite a few people to want to use it on a regular basis then you need to make sure to get a unit that is big enough for everyone. If you are buying the unit just for you and your spouse, on the other hand, then you won't require a hot tub that seats a dozen people. A good rule of thumb is to multiply the number of people you expect to use the tub by 75 gallons of water which will give you the capacity you require.

The relaxation and enjoyment you will get from the hot tub you purchase makes the fun and excitement of shopping around worth the time. Once it is set in place your hot tub is not an easy thing to move so you'll want to be absolutely certian that it's what you want and where you want it. You will be among the thousands who have successfully found the right hot tub for them if you use the helpful hints above.

Can I really not wear a Juicy Couture bathing suit in a hot tub?
I looked at the care instructions of a particular Juicy Couture bathing suit that I want. It said to not wear it in a hot tub/spa. Is this true? And why? What would happen if I did wear it in the hot tub? Thanks!

Hot tubs can cause swimsuits to lose their elasticity over time which will cause them to stretch out. They can also become faded. This can happen to any swimsuit in a hot tub…not just Juicy Couture. But since your swim suit is so expensive I would suggest wearing a different one into the hot tub or only wearing the Juicy one in the hot tub occasionally.

How can I read in a hot tub/spa?
I enjoy listening to my outdoor speakers while in the hot tub, but what I like even more is reading magazines in there. But…the pages always get soggy and my arms get tired from holding it up out of the water!!! Anyone have and ideas on how I can read in the hot tub and avoid these problems?

Why is my hot tub/spa water cloudy and has an odor?
I’m assuming it has to do with the chemicals, but the other day the water in my hot tub was cloudy and had an odor to it. I check and adjust the chemicals regularly, yet the water is still not right. Any ideas as to what caused this or how to fix it? I would rather not drain the water and start all over if I don’t have to.

I saw this infomercial, that was selling a kind of book holder that goes from one side to the other side of the hot tub. Go to asseenontv.com maybe you can find something there.

    Hey there,

Great idea on getting a hot tub. I use ours almost everyday.

For under 2K you will probably be limited to a portable hot tub which many people like. These tubs are easy to put up and use right away. If you get a permanent hot tub then you will have to pay for the installation of electrical hook up which can run anywhere from $1000 – $2000. There is a good article for you to look at below and a good website that you will find useful to help you decide.

Just remember one thing. If you go too cheap, then you often get a pretty cheap tub in many ways including quality. I wanted to get one in the price range you were looking but in the end we bought a used tub which had been returned to the manufacturer and repaired. We got it for about half the retail price just because it was used for a few months. They fixed it and resold it to us and we are extremely happy with it. We spent around $4000 plus installation. Well worth the extra cost.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

Can you recommend an outdoor hot tub/spa for under 2k that is decent?
I noticed sam’s club has a couple, one for around $1600, member’s mark brand. Anyone have positive/negative experiences with any brand/model for 2K or under? I want one just to relax, I don’t need 200 jets and a pop up TV…just something small and simple and cheap.

Soft tub. They are the most portable and the easiest to set up.
You have to keep it in line with water elements and make sure that the liner is flat when you fill it up. It’s just that Soft.

I’m looking for value, quality and easy installation.
