I just bought a home with a hot tub. What do I need to know about getting it to work, cleaning it, etc.?
I just bought a home which was a foreclosure. Because of this, it was bank owned and they have no information on the hot tub that came with the house. I have no way of contacting the previous owners, but even if I did, I doubt they’d be helpful in helping me with their hot tub that they lost to foreclosure.

The hot tub itself seems in pretty good shape. No visible cracks. It’s mounted on a wood deck. And it was covered well, only a small bit of mucky water inside of it. I’ve never owned a hot tub before, so I’m a complete newbie when it comes to them. Can anyone get me started on what I would need to know to see if it works, cleaning it (emptying that mucky water would be a good start), and making sure its safe? I would hate to be electrocuted the first time I set foot in it, though I’m sure thats a totally irrational fear. It looks well built and sturdy. The house was built in 2000 so the hot tub itself can’t possibly be older than that.

    Thank you for any assistance.

if this is a hot tub connected to a swimming pool you can just add the chlorine to the pool and it will cycle through the spa. but if this is a personal spa then you would need to add bromine not chlorine and you add all the chemicals through the filter compartment. any more questions feel free to ask.

Don’t do that! That is very dangerous! Never use electrical appliances around water. The way the weather has been lately (very warm), the sun should heat any pool 3′ deep fairly quickly. Once the sun has done its job and you have just finished relaxing in the pool with the water still very warm, put a solar blanket over the pool. This will keep the warmth in overnight and the pool will be ready to use in the am. When pool not in use, keep the solar blanket on to suck in the sun’s rays for an even warmer pool. I believe you can pick these solar blankets up at any pool supply store. Have fun!

Go to stores that sell hot tubs and see if they have general maintenance sheet printout freebie.
They will tell you the basics that you need to know. Brands don’t really matter…..it is a health thing moreso and also there will be info on tub upkeep pump upkeep, yada, yada. Take as much info about yours as possible Brand, model. That will aid any store as well.

Is it fair to let all the men buy me drinks before they take me home to their hot-tub?
Is it wrong that I let them pay for everything, and all I do is have fun?
What would you do if you were in my shoes?

We have owned several spas in the past, but are very pleased with the “Spa-N-A-Box” that we have now. It is lightweight, portable, very energy efficient and economical. We chose the redwood sided model to match our deck.

    We love it.

how to heat home made hot tub?
I want to make a hot tub out of a large kiddie pool (12′ diameter- 3″ deep). the problem is how to heat it without buying an actual hot tub heater. I was wondering about floating a space heater (with electronics above water level) to create the heat necessary. Any other suggestions would be great.

My wife and I are looking to get a hot tub for our home. Can somebody tell me what brand we should buy?
There are so many companies out there, we just don’t know which ones are creditable.

You are creating the expectation that you will have sex with them if they pay for your night out.

I think that is playing with fire. 1) What if you don’t want to go through with your end of the perceived bargain? Some guy out there may get sore at you some day and then you would be in trouble. 2) You are selling your self cheaply.
