getting colds from lowered immune systems from being in cold weather.?

I know from doctors that you can't get a cold just from being out in the cold or rain. My opinion is that you can get a cold because your immune system gets lowered and you are more likely to catch a cold and your body isn't able to fight it off the way it could have if you weren't cold to begin with. Is that true? Does anybody have any web sites about having your immune system lowered from being in rain or cold weather? My husband and two children went swimming -December-(why I don't know??) and went from the spa to the pool quite a few times. We'll what do you know they all have a cold coming on. Maybe it is a coensidence but, everytime they stay up a few nights or play in cooler pools they seem to get sick. Not always, but more than not. Any thoughts?? Thanks!
