Fist time massage. What to expect?

I am a male and have been given a gift certificate at a spa for a sauna, bath and massage. I have never had either and don't know what to do or expect. Do I need to bring specific clothing? Do I wear a bathing suit in the bath? Are your private parts covered during the massage? Do I tip the masseuse?
Thanks

As a licensed massage therapist, first time clients are always my favorite. Your first massage can be a bit nerve racking. You are in a vulnerable postition (you are unclothed and the other person is clothed). Rest assured even though this is YOUR first massage, it is not the therapist first massage. We have heard every question and concern. You can call to ask if you need to bring a bathing suit (some spa services require this) or they may have disposable ones for you. As for being covered, a sheet or towel will be covering you the entire massage. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered. If you are at a spa usually a tip is given, in a private practice or clinical massage, no. Please enjoy. I hope it is a good experience.

You do not need to bring specific clothing, you can wear a towel. Bathing suit in the bath is optional (if it is a private bath…I’d bring it just incase)…and you are also free to wear it during the massage…it’s up to your comfort level. Your private areas…and any other areas you do not want exposed should remain covered. Communicating with your MT (your comfort levels) is important to have an enjoyable experience. And be sure to call them the massage therapist and not a masseuse (most states require licensure and a "masseuse" implies an unlincensed person who gives "those" type of "massages"…you know what I mean).

    Call the spa and ask.
