A lot of folks use craigslist just to get rid of rubbish for free. That said, if he really wants it, why stand in his way? Let him have his fun.

if the water heater is electric…turn off the breaker…..if it is gas..then turn the red dial to pilot……..then open and close the valve again..maybe theres just some crud in the seat of the valve…….. when ever closing a valve at the heater ALWYS turn off the electric or gas…… if it is electric and the breakers arent Labled it will be one of the large ones…..

I need help with my hot tub please?
We’ve never used a hot tub before and the house we purchased came with one. We are having a problam with it though, and we are do-it-yourself’ers , so we dont want to call someone just yet, unless this is a bigger problem.
ON the contorol box (not digital) it tell us to push the test button and the heat reset button(the red pin) should pop out but it doesn’t. We can hear it running, but the heater on light only flickers when you first oush the on button. The jets wont run, when we push the button to turn the pump on, you can hear it running but nothing comes out of the jets. However there is a filter in the top corner and if we push it in and out of the water, air bubbles will come out of the jets. We are clueless, of anyone has any advice, or has anything you would recommend checking, it would be greatly appreciated!!

did you check to see if a valve is open at the corner of the tub? some hot tubs have a little drain valve that you hook a water hose to to drain.that valve may be open. did the pump or pumps run while you were draining the tub? if your heater came on while you were draining the tub then you do have a problem ! how did you drain the tub? with a water hose?

1st issue – the test & reset button are part of a GFI circuit breaker. If it does not pop out it means; 1) there is no power on the circuit; 2) the breaker is bad. Since something is running I would NOT get into the tub til I replaced the GFI breaker.

2nd issue – ur statements are confusing – I don’t know what u hear running.
Old neon pilot lights will sometimes get weak and only flicker – not a problem. If it is not neon (generally, orange color) then there may be an issue.
If the filter is out of the water, the pump will suck air and expel it as bubbles. However, if it only happens when u push the filter in and out of the water, u are in effect pumping the water. That would indicate that the pump isn’t and is therefore defective. A broken or frozen impeller blades, broken shaft, or joint to motor.

Probably requires a pump replacement depending on how much u can disassemble it and what parts are available

How to stop water leak from corner tub faucet?
I did not realize but my corner tub was leaking ( a steady small stream of hot water) from the faucet…did not notice because the air conditioner was running. My father told me to go shut the hot water valve in the basement untill he can come fix it tomorrow. Its DRIVING ME CRAZY!! I turned the valve downsatirs but it is still coming out at a much slower steam!! all of this hot water being wasted it must be 24 hours now!! can i shut off some main valve somewhere??help
okay its electric. i just get freeked out touching things like this. earlier i noticed a red handle/lever from a pipe leading to the hot water heater, and then there was a yellow one. The breaker, shut that off?

Help me convince hubby not to get free hot tub?
My hubby wants to get a free hot tub off craigslist (we see offers every week for different free hot tubs). I know that just because it’s free that doesn’t mean it’s in good condition and that we won’t have to put money into setting it up. He wants to put it in the corner of the yard – how will we get water and electric out to it and how much will it cost to put in a deck for it??? He wants to do all this himself, but his work schedule leaves him with little free time and he is still in the process of changing our brakes on our cars and repainting his suv!
Anyone have advice on talking out of this idea (the above is not enough to get him to stop considering it/bringing it up)??
I said in the process of doing the brakes and paint job – not that they were done correctly! He is very capable but lacks the time to complete things – and I don’t see how I could help him install a hot tub, I’m a student not a contractor…
If he doesn’t have time to finish his current projects, I don’t see him maintaining a hot tub. I wasn’t aware that they were high maintenance – that was the issue we had with putting a pond in the backyard – maybe that will be key in getting out of this hot tub idea.
