you say you took the gfci out? i'm assuming the unit had a built in gfci in the cord itself and you cut it off and installed a regular 110 volt plug end on the cord. the gfci was put on the cord from the factory because of how important it has to have this protection with this kind of unit safety wise. your household gfci will serve the same purpose as long as it is wired, and working correctly. it is possible that you could have had a problem with the wiring to the outlet the soft tub was plugged into when you say the gfci went bad. or the outlet might have had to many appliances, lights, etc on the same circuit. what i'm getting at is the gfci that was on the tub might not have been bad at all.

Hi There,

That is not a good idea.

Concrete has a high compression strength but a poor tensile strength. Who knows what the allowable weight for the balcony would be.

Water weights 8.3 lbs per gallon so 250 x 8.3 equals 2075 lbs.
Add two people at average weight of 150 lbs equals 300 more lbs.
You are looking at 2375 pounds on your balcony about 40 or 50 feet in the air.

Hope this helps,
Al

Unless you have an engineering report on the weight bearing capabilities of the balcony I wouldn't advise you to try that. I've seen too many balconies that were built with little or no engineering for heavy loads. Most balconies, on apartment buildings, are only rated for 1000 pounds or less. I've seen a lot of balconies on the news in the last year when they were sitting in pieces in the parking lot or bushes.

Hard to get parts for when it breaks down unless you go through a dealer that will charge you the maximum when the warranty runs out. I personally am not a fan of their moto massage seat. Most tubs I go to of theirs it is broken and the customer rarely wants to spend the money to fix it. It's a very "dated" design. Not a fan of their jets either. (Only jet on the market I am nuts about is Sudances') I bet the only thing I ever repair will be the seal behind it in twenty years when I do it for everyone's.

You do have a great tub from a very reputable company. Take care of it properly with balanced water and enjoy it for many years to come. I would have bought another brand though. Sort of do you own a Lexxus, Mercedes or BMW.

I want to find somone in my local area that will create an outdoor paradise in a limited space..?
I'm looking for a tiki hut bar and thatched roof to be built. We have a small back yard and want to have a spa and a nice outdoor area to relax. We live in the Tampa bay area in florida.
