Cleaning Gunite Pool?


Pool 7yrs old.Sand/dirt has embedded in gunite when pump was out, pool bottom always looks dirty. To much water to drain and acid wash(that worked on spa) we have a slow well. Tried scrubbing with steel brush, shock, etc. need help

    Yes, there is one option avaliable to you if this is a small area and white bottomed finnish (not painted with rubber chlorinated vinyl and 4ft diameter or less). You can either rent or purchase a Stain Master, from your local pool shop. They cost about 35 bucks. It attaches to the end of your pool pole and is essentially an inverted cup, with a valve attached to a small hose leading up to jug of muriactic acid. When you put the "cup" on the affected surface, it puts acid directly on the spot by syphon action and concentrates it right there.
    No need to drain the pool, but like I said, only good for small areas.Large ones take far too much time and adversely drop your total alkalinity with the amount of acid you’d use.
    If this is a large area, I’m afraid you’re only real option IS to drain and wash. Using the steel brush was a sensible first step in trying to resolve this and what I would have tried first, followed by a little granular chlorine. No success means it’s acid time.
