Doubt the vinegar would do much more than to TRY to change the ph of parasites, which may be so resistant to this technique due to exposure and resistance. If it did in fact work, I suspect we could use it as a substitute to chlorine. Since it doesn’t, we don’t. Bacteria/parasites are just too resistant.

people do you vinegar as a cleaner, because it is a light natural acid.
But, I would follow that up with a real cleaner, clorox, clr, orange glow, or something…

Use bleach and make sure you rinse the hot tube out with lots of hot, steaming water. I think they sell special cleaners for hot tubes. They don’t leave residue and are not bad for the water.

Hot water is best if you can’t get any cleaning products.

I hate to say due to time I copied and older post of mine. No it will not kill anything. Your sanitizer will.

"Interesting answers. I would dare say that at least 40% of the repairs I get our due to improper care of their hot tub. Using an nice abrasive, will scratch the acrylic allowing bacteria and algae to gain a foot hold. Some detergents break down gaskets faster then they ever should break down. It was nice that one answered about Legionaires disease to let you know that yes very bad things can happen if you don’t balance and sanitize your water properly. I truly hope some of the other answers reread this question and realize that what they are suggesting just might not be theright thing to do.

First take your filters out. Spray them down with a Filter cleaner ( a mild acid) that will break down everything accumulated on your filters. Most dictate to let them stand for 10-15 minutes before simply hosing off with a regular pressure hose. Next if you have water in your tub, add some distilled vinegar into the tub’s water. I use a half a gallon for a 400 gal. tub. Run it for twenty minutes then promptly drain. We just cleaned out some of the inner pipes. If you have scale build up (that white powedery substance on your tubs walls) use a little soft sponge with some stain and scale applied to it and gently rub into the scale. That will not remove it but will help over time. Do not use anything abrasive or not made by the hot tub chemical companies to clean your tub. 303 Protectant is the best spray for your tub’s cover to help keep the sun from killing it with it’s rays. We use distilled vinegar as our surface cleaner for the tub. Wash it out with a hose when it’s empty. When you refill your tub immediately balance it’s pH, Alkalinity and calcium level. If your using Bromine, add some concentrate to esthablish a bromine "bank", then add tablets to your floater. You can use some of the products to combat scale, algaecides and foam but if your properly balanced then your water will be easy to take care of and they will not be needed. The key is proper sanitation to begin with, if it is then your not going to need anything other then an expensive surface cleaner or what we use the very cheap distilled vinegar. I would not use liquid chlorine (bleach) since most of them do contain metals that can stain the tub."
