Best Hot Tub Covers, Frequently Asked Questions

By Allison Clarke

SpaCap Hot Tub Covers are made from the absolute best outdoor marine grade fabrics. The typical rigid foam hot tub cover is made from the cheapest material that still appears to have quality. Spa Vinyls are rated by hours of exposure where as Sunbrella Marine Acrylic is rated by years. The largest most expensive yachts in the world use the exact same fabric used on the SpaCap Hot Tub Covers. Sunbrella is quite literally the world standard in outdoor fabric. All vinyl including the top of the line Marine grade is rated by HOURS outdoors and Sunbrella is rated by years.

The underside of the SpaCap Hot Tub Covers are a vinyl-coated fabric similar to that used for Achilles and Zodiac inflatable boats and commercial truck tarps. It has a base polyester fabric that is then coated with vinyl on both sides. It is the same fabric used in commercial fertilizer bin tarps. That means the material can handle some of the most extreme chemical exposure. The thread used to join the SpaCap Hot Tub Covers together, is the same strength and weight thread used to make truck tarps. Every SpaCap Hot Tub Cover is custom made to order in the USA, built to last, and to look good for years to come!

Can a Hot Tub Cover that does not use foam handle a snow load?

SpaCap Hot Tub Covers can handle more heavy snow than any rigid foam filled spa cover because the bottom of the cover is supported by the water in the hot tub. The typical rigid foam filled Spa Covers try to act like a bridge over the spa water. When the snow gets too heavy, the rigid foam Hot Tub Cover will sag or break. As opposed to SpaCap Hot Tub Covers that rest right on the surface of the water, no matter how deep the snow the weight is evenly supported by the water. These air filled Hot Tub Covers have gone through world record snowfalls and to date with thousands sold around the world there has not been even one crushed by a snow load.

I have had Hot Tub Covers get blown off during wind storms. How do the Worlds Best Hot Tub Covers handle the wind?

The Custom made Hot Tub Covers that use air rather than rigid foam panels do quite well at staying in the on the spa, basically because it makes a lousy wing. Again, because these Hot Tub Covers lay right on the water

  7. Above the Rest Hot Tub and Pool Repair, Inc. says:

OK the average repair I do on Internet tubs are 5. Meaning at least 5 different leaks, wiring (!!!) or other problems are needed. Internet companies usually less quality jets etc.. Most companies use Balboa electronics and AO smith motors. We work on over 60+ hot tubs under warranty and that is what you need to pay attention to. Who will repair it when it breas and it will break and are there more then one companies in the area that can also do it. With all of that said…I really like the second tier tubs from Masterspa, Cal Spa, Sundance (680 series) and HotSprings (tiger river). I do personally prefer the Down East line from Masterspa with a 2 year extended warranty to equal five years. Depending on your climate you can have it fully foamed or partially. If it is fully foamed one day we will have to dig out the foam to find the leak. ON the other hand the plumbing will not have the ability to vibrate as much and so fewer glue joints will fail. Energy consumption will be less so that is a bonus also. Make sure if it is Balboa electronics that the spa pack is “M7″ technology. That will break down less in time. I am just not a Hotsprings fan. Ever since their heaters catching fire fiasco and their fix of sending out a fire retardent blanket to “smother” the flames instead of going out and finding each heater and replacing it I am not a fan of big business companies that watch the bottom line that much over safety. Expect for a mid range tub to be riced at 4500-7000. I loved the Exeter SE from Downeast spas. Do remember this..the average mark up is 40%. So subtract that from the MSRP from the average dealers price. Be sure to get a CD ozonator (No more then 175) and also make sure you know your chemistry!
